Sunday was lovely and warm; felt like one of the first real days of summer here in this upside down place that is the Northern Hemisphere (sorry, I’m not trying to sound smug, those of you stuck in that Wellington cold snap).
We were planning to head by bike from our lil’ village to Mambi and Papi’s place, five kilometres away as the crow flies; slightly more as the bike bounces (over some pretty rough agricultural cart-tracks). I felt it was the perfect occasion to debut these puppies:

Shoes: Hippo and Friends (from The Warehouse in New Zealand) via Aunt-o; a first birthday pressie.
Yes, yes, that’s a large nail in my hand. This house is supposedly under construction; someone‘s got to look like they’re doing some work around here.
Before we set off, Mummy and I grabbed a bit of fresh energy by way of the cherry tree in the back yard, the fruits of which are just about perfect for munching on right now.
This tshirt is from
Duncan & Prudence in Newtown, Wellington, which means it’s ethically spotless. It’s my favourite. Because of the planes. I always like to say – so much of fashion is ironic these days! Who
can’t rock a ratty old cardy, grandpa glasses, socks with sandals?* … I say that true trendsetting gives a nod to the literal. I like planes. Yep, I said it. I meant it. And this tshirt is here to represent it.
The necklace is an amber teething one; but that’s BS. This one is purely an aesthetic statement. In fact, it’s even a little bit ironic (ooooh).

And then, we were on the road. But I don’t know what it was – the motion? the gentle vibration of wheels over potholes? an overload of fashion irony? Readers, I fell asleep at this point. Unfortunate – there was kinda nowhere for my head to go.
And then, we were there! At Mambi and Papi’s, by the riverside. And there were cousins, and there was gambolling around like
spring summer lambs to be done, and

‘horsey’ to be played, and stuff. But you know me, I sometimes just gosh-darn prefer pleasures of the literary variety. I got stuck into a good book.
The shorts are Teeny Weeny from
Farmers in New Zealand – coincidentally they were originally sent across the world a few years ago as a present for the now large cousin on the right of this pic! They found their way back to me, like a bad penny – but as you can see here, I know how to style ‘em to bring them up to date.
Til next time, hipsters!

* Interestingly enough, socks with sandals are part of the national Hungarian children’s dress code. We do not want the children to Catch a Cold.
