Through the night!

Through. The. Night!

Maja slept through the night last night!!

This rejoice-able event followed only two other times in her life she has slept right through.

The first, incongruously, was early last August, when she was about eight months old – a random miracle (much celebrated, at the time, of course – we stupidly thought it was the start of the golden age).

The second was once around the same time this year (which led me more cynically to wonder if it was an annual event, much like a birthday, or Mr A cleaning the toilet), and was more of an 8pm-4am kind of thing.

Last night she slept right through until our normal family waking time – sun had risen; birds were singing; coffee machine was calling, etc etc. She stood up in her cot and looked a bit confused about the fact she was in her own little bed, and told me there were poos in the nappy. I rejoiced. I could have dealt with a hundred poo-y nappies one after the other and still have been grinning.

And if it hadn’t been for the usual Monday event of the rubbish truck rumbling through at 4am, which always gets me, I would have slept through too. I cannot believe I am writing these words.

Could it be that our night-weaning project will be sorted for us, before we even embark on it??!

oh lord, I’ve jinxed it by posting this, haven’t I?

Eventually kids just do it by themselves. And even if she doesn’t do it tonight, she will do it more and more often. It’s a rare mummy that can wait for a baby to get there without some sort of weaning / encouragement. So good on you!

Thanks!!! I really feel the truth of that … and I think there’s a lot more satisfaction to be had in watching them get there by themselves!?
